Do you know how good it feels to come home, after being in the office for 10 hrs… and for once, I get to sit back, relax and scroll through the Jeremy Lin pics, videos and links?! Well let me tell you…it feels really good!!! Thanks again to my awesome Lin Ladies for doing all the leg work for me!!! I know my post yesterday had some glitches when it came to some of the pics so I have uploaded them to this post also. Enjoy!!
Update and videos provided by ic:
“Jeremy’s visit schedule in China seemed to be changed. He will be in Beijing till Aug 10 and go to Shanghai on Aug 11. When in Shanghai he will work on VOLVO commercial shooting, then he will visit two southern cities for basketball camps.
Jeremy will return to Taipei on Aug 26. Landry will visit Taichung, a city in central Taiwan, with two Heats on Aug 25 & 26 for NBA 3X – 3 on 3 games. Landry won’t meet Jeremy this time.”
Jeremy Leaving Taipei for Beijing
Jeremy Arriving in Beijing
All those people!!! I’m sure he cannot help but feel overwhelmed…but loved at the same time!! Taiwan did a great job in showing their love and appreciation for Jeremy!!
Some additional reports from ic (who is doing a better job at reporting on Jeremy than some of these newspapers, as pointed out by Ken, LOL!!!):
- “News here says that Jeremy did not disclose his arrival in Beijing. Except Stregis Hotel where Jeremy will stay, only limited people who got news from Taiwan that Jeremy was flying to Beijing Aug 7 afternoon, checked his lodging and waited there for him. There was a Taiwanese entertainer who happened to stay in Stregis said that she rushed to her room to change her swimming suit and run downstairs to see Jeremy.”
- “Knowing that Jeremy is interested in piloting plane, China Airlines specially arranged for him, before departing Taipei, to do that in their simulator center to try a B747-400, that’s the type of plane for Jeremy’s trips. Jeremy did that with assistance of a coach and he extremely enjoyed. Then they offered him the chance to tour stewardess training center (you know, all are young, pretty and above-average height girls) and entered the simulator cabin. He made a sensation there. Even the airline company falls in love with him!”
- Today, Jeremy made an unannounced/surprise stop at a church. The guidance counselor requested the trip and only Jeremy and his family knew about it. I know those kids all had their dreams come true today.

OMG!! My mind is totally not in the right place, I misread it as stimulator twice! Haha, I better go to bed now
omg…turtlek…you crack me up!!! HAHAHA! I had to check and make sure I accidently write “stimulator”…glad it’s just your dirty mind LOL!

JL will do an online Q&A on Weibo – Wed, 8 Aug 16:00 CST
Finally there is news in China about Jeremy visiting Beijing. It didn’t say much just a few lines copied news here.
http://www.chinanews.com/tp/hd2011/2012/08-08/122990.shtml#nextpage
Here is a clearer video of Jeremy when arrived in Beijing. Jeremy’s schedule is actually kept confidential (don’t know why). Some media and a few fans knew that and waited outside the hotel including the Taiwanese entertainer (the third one talking to the media).
Jeremy will stay in Beijing for 5 days. He practices today in Canadian Internaitonal School of Beijing. He will have public activities tomorrow, the 9th.
According to this http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1779085492 he will stay in Beijing til 9th, then go to changping(?), really nice of him to join activities with the poorer children of migrant workers in that area. Then shanghai for 3 days starting 10th or 11th, Guangzhou on 18th, Dongguan from 19th to 22nd. Not sure what he’ll do during the gaps in his schedule tho…. maybe practice more? Haha
thanks ic…just updated my post with this video
JL to HK Aug 24 for New World Group Charity for sports.
Aug 9 Sohu news (China): http://m.sohu.com/n/350100959/
Brief translation of news:
“Jeremy Lin arrived in Beijing yesterday afternoon for a half month summer trip. Jeremy Lin arrived in Taipei last Saturday making a Linsanity storm. Upon arriving in Beijing Capital Internaitonal Airport, Lin was provided several body guards and offered special arrangement so he can leave the airport as fast as possible. Owing to Linsanity, Lin has received quite different treatment for this trip in China. Although being a famous player, Lin is still diligent. He arrived at the hotel late but did not take any rest. He started exercise from 9 until 11 p.m. Lin will maintain exercising twice each day during the trip. The schedule and sites for his exercises in the entire trip has been well arranged. In the morning on the 9th, Lin will go to a small city to visit children of poorer families and play with them. In the afternoon, Lin will have his press conference to introduce the situation of the training camp . On 10th (earlier than previous schedule) Lin will fly to Shanghai for endorsement activities. On 19th Lin will go to Dong Yuang (a sourthen city where he visited in 2010) for the training camp.”
It looks a little confused to me that Jeremy shortens his stay in Beijing (not sure actually), and that he will spend quite a long time in Shanghai (from 10 to 18). I guess the VOLVO activities will be intense, and that he will meet Yao Ming who lives in Shanghai. Perhaps Yao Ming will arrange a lot activities for him. Yao Ming is now a key person coorporating with NBA China. Let’s see what incoming news will say.
He didn’t stay in Beijing long at all!! And all those flights will affect his sleep, I know he must feel exhausted already! And I am pretty sure that VOLVO is deciding a lot of his schedule, so that may have something to do with it. And yes, him getting together with Yao Ming will be interesting and should definitely be news worthy.
Ha ha ha …..T and Mlin, it looks like we are working for media or something. Jeremy, you are so blessed!
Lol, hope we’re not the 狗仔隊 haha
oops, sorry Linbabies
狗仔隊 = paparazzi
i know…haha!!! No you ladies are better than the media…and more professional than the paparazzi!! Jeremy is lucky to have fans like us and us Lin Ladies are grateful for your reporting!!
JL Q&A on Weibo
http://p.twimg.com/AzxEMdtCEAAMh1k.png:large
Hi K,
The church event was 7 Aug CST [should have specified, sorry.] So…yesterday?
Jeremy’s exercise in the stadium in Canadian International School of Beijing on Aug 8.
From the news, Jeremy’s trip seems to focus on his VOLVO endorsement in Beijing, Shanghai, and southern Guangdong province (will go to two cities, Dongyuan and the big city Shenzeng that nears Hong Kong as mentioned in previous TV news).
awesome work out clips!!! So I guess his Beijing trip is more endorsement related, whereas his Taiwan trip was more basketball and meet and greet the fans related? I hope he gets to meet some fans and do some interviews in China too.
Jeremy will have a press conference in Beijing this afternoon. I’ll check the news tonight on TV and get a video.
awesome ic!!! Can’t wait to see and hear his voice again. I hope the reporters watched his Taiwan press conference so they don’t ask the same thing over and over again (which it sometimes seems like they do).
K,
He goes to the High School in Taipei, advertises Houston Rockets and NY Knicks on TV, then church, then poor kids in Beijing, T shirt says ‘Houston Rockets’, today T shirt says ‘soldier’ w/dog tags for all the troops in Asia…who keeps track of all this? Has he forgotten to mention anyone?
LOL, i know, it’s like is this Jeremy guy even real?! He is like everyone’s dream spokesperson. Who better than someone like Jeremy to promote the NBA, or Christianity, or helping the underprivileged…
mlin,
[Prepares to be knighted.]
That’s so surreal! Surely we could show our appreciation in a more realistic manner. How about:
[Prepare to be nighted.]
LOL Ken!! You.Cracked.Me.Up!

WALTHAM, Mass., March 15, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — A123 Systems (Nasdaq:AONE), a developer and manufacturer of advanced Nanophosphate® lithium iron phosphate batteries and systems, today announced that Advanced Traction Battery Systems (ATBS), A123′s co-owned Shanghai-based joint venture company, has been selected to develop battery packs for a new plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) sedan from Geely, one of the fastest-growing automakers in China and the parent company of Volvo Car Corporation. Under the terms of the development agreement, A123 will supply 20Ah prismatic cells to ATBS for the production of complete lithium ion battery packs for Geely’s new PHEV, which is expected to launch in China in 2014.

Geely Phenomenon Analysis: Breakthroughs in brand image, and innovation capacity strengthening
Cavetti:
Re: Pollution/Energy Efficiency
Geely/Volvo has introduced the first Chinese car into the EU.
Purchased an assembly line in Egypt which can produce 300,000 to 500,000 cars a year.
They have nearly 4,000 new patents on various aspects of new cars from safety to new power sources [electric, DME, (power) transmissions, drive systems (shut off engine, including Volvo dump trucks while idling)]
productions plans for 2,000,000 cars by 2015
a factory producing auto safety products in Changping, Beijing.
Shanghai Diesel has patents on DME engines (95% cleaner in Volvo trucks after 2 year test)
[China has reduced or eliminated sales tax on alternate fuel vehicles (Volvo/Geely) in 5 cities. Other tax breaks in an additional 25 cities support the concept.]
[Sinopec is a state owned, non-profit, oil company. The increasing cost of fuel while maintaining a constant price for industry and citizens, is costing the Chinese gov. a fortune. Moving to alternate energy sources plus reduction of pollution is a high priority for the Chinese government.]
Fortune Magazine
“The Geely venture represents another approach that could allow China to sell its cars worldwide. Geely-Volvo is considering new plants in Chengdu, Sichuan, Daqing and Heilongjiang.
[and Changping District, Beijing]
…”Now the company has a Harvard-educated basketball star to help consumers understand why their next automotive purchase should be a Volvo.”
http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2012/03/22/volvo-china/
Cavettij (I’d like to call you “cave” lol), great post! You seem to pay more attention than I do to Geely in China though we are neighboring mainland China.
ic, (Cav would be ok. I’ve stayed at the Grand many times flying back and forth from Taipei to the States.)
I’m stuck on this idea: why did he sign with Volvo? I keep looking for “good” involved someway that would have influenced his parents. I think I’m finding it. Also, he only signed with 3 companies (when he could have had thousands) so I think he made a lot of money from Volvo. So enough money and ‘good’ intentions.
Jeremy did pick up endorsement with discetion. Our news said Jeremy made 4 million from the VOLVO contact.
that is a lot of money but i wonder how it compares to endorsements from other athletes and celebrities…
Yep Sinopec is costing a lot of $$$.
I wish the new alternate energy source invested by Geely could work! It will definitely benefit us, because all the polluted air is blown from the north to HK during winter time (during summer, we have typhoons and the sea breeze from the south). And of course for the benefits of all in China as well.
Ken, very very nice analysis!!
(ic, some of the Linbabies call me ‘Ken’ my first name on K’s blog. I’ll explain later.)
Kyrie Irving: signed a multi-tiered endorsement deal with Pepsi when he was drafted.
1. signing bonus as high draft choice
2. increases for leading stats
3. increases for national honors
4. increases for rookie records
Jeremy was represented by Jim Tanner, the member of Washington Law Firm.

Skilled, experienced, expensive, represents some of highest paid athletes including Allen’s move from Celtics to Heat.
Remember: JL had so many offers Montgomery couldn’t handle them all. (Maybe thousands…J)
JL negotiations were begun after his THIRD GAME. The announcement below was later when he signed.
“will participate in a range of marketing activities for the car manufacturer over the next two years. This will include an advertising campaign which will be primarily focused on the US and China. The partnership is Lin’s first with a major corporation. Financial details were not disclosed.”
I am very, very confident given the normal structure of contracts;
given Tanners expertise;
given JL’s INCREASED international standings after 7 games;
given Volvo/Geely’s $18 billion expansion plans;….
the $4,000,000 was a signing bonus.
K, ‘other athletes and celebrities’,
Derrick Rose signed a ‘lifetime’ endorsement deal with Nike (?) for a record breaking $240 million dollars. In my opinion, not a real good deal when you consider the POTENTIAL future relationship between the athlete and the endorser such as JL and Volvo/Geely.
Nike didn’t give Rose an Emperor’s Dragon Seal proclaiming him a “Son of Heaven”!
thanks for this break down Ken! and a “lifetime” deal for $240 million?! i seriously can’t even imagine. And Derrick Rose can buy a lifetime supply of stamps and proclaim himself the son of Heaven with that kind of endorsement!!
Jeremy post a cute pic on his facebook last night thanking fans in Taiwan and said he was going to enjoy his Peking duck. But dirty Knicks fans sent dirty messges again. It’s just like we are ready to enjoy a nice cake on the table but find one or two tiny cockroaches running there!
China has banned facebook and twitter, people were wondering how Jeremy posted his message on facebook when in Beijing. I guess he sent the pic and message to someone reliable, like his older brother in NY, by e-mail and he posted that pic and message on Jeremy’s facebook.
“we are ready to enjoy a nice cake on the table but find one or two tiny cockroaches running there!”….very well said ic!!! Facebook is a way for cowards to act brave against someone they don’t even really know, without having to actually face the music. And I didn’t know China banned facebook and twitter! I am facebook friends with people in HK, so I am guessing the ban only applies to mainland China?
You’re right, only banned in mainland China. People there use SIna.com (Weibo). Jeremy has nearly 3 million followers (fans) on his Weibo by now.
Some mainland people use twitter too, and Facebook, it’s just a bit more complicated for them to get around the firewall
It doesn’t need to be that complicated, you can get those software that masks your IP and get through the firewall that way. Although seeing how technologically incapable he is, he probably had someone figure it out for him, haha.
I see, but I’ve never tried that when in China. They call that “翻牆”. For Jeremy, I think the simpliest way is just to ask people there let him get through. Jeremy is not an average person anyway!
I heard, actually if you already have the Facebook apps installed in your phone, you can still access FB via phone? Of course, there are people who can jump over the firewall set up by the govt and access FB, but it’s very slow apparently.
Anyway, then Jeremy may not be updating his facebook so frequently while he is in China…
Vietnam is the same way. They blocked Facebook but for some reason I have some friends from Vietnam who can access it. They don’t log on often but I guess sometimes it lets them through and sometimes not. When I was in Vietnam, I was able to log on once but never again after that.
Jeremy in Beijing update (Chinatimes & UND Beijing reports) Aug 9:
**********
Owing to the fact that Jeremy was “paparazzied” by the media in Taiwan that he missed some trainings, he insisted that his trainings in Beijing not interfered by media. Jeremy did his first training yesterday morning in Canadian International School of Beijing. In the afternoon, Jeremy met with Chairman Lee of Geely Group (owner of VOLVO) and had online conversations with fans on Sina.com. Although there were thousands of questions from fans, Jeremy only answered 11 of them. Jeremy said he would hope to work for a church or do a job in relation to social service to help those in need when he no longer plays basketball. As to why he picked up No. 7 he said 7 is a complete number representing God. A fan complained that he flunked his university entrance exam. Jeremy encouraged him that “sometimes it takes longer to achieve your dream, however each obstacle you meet is a help for the future. Go! Go!” (Above is translation of Chinese version). Chairman Lee said Jeremy is a typical “tall, rich, and handsome” young man that is regarded as the most worshiped type by girls in China.
Jeremy had dinner with his family in a Beijing restaurant enjoying peking duck and celebrate father’s day (Taiwanese celebrate father’s day on Aug 8 – 8 8 as in Mandarin it reads like Papa).
Jeremy will visit a shool in Changping in the suburbs of Beijing this morning meeting students who are from poorer families. It’s said that Jeremy’s mom did not want to be too showy that she asked the agent to persuaded the media not to follow and only agreed to two media CCTV and another one (no name given) to go with them. There were two Taiwanese media previously agreed to go with them but then were rejected. The Taiwanese media were working on that hopefully at least one of them could join the trip.
Jeremy has kept low profile all the time. The only public activity is the press conference at 4:00 p.m. on Aug.9 in the ST REGIS Hotel where he stays. Jeremy’s agent has asked the media no more to ask question like “Is Jeremy a Chinese, Taiwanese, or an American”.
**********
As Jeremy is going to be 24 soon, Geely Chairman Lee sent Jeremy a birthday gift. It is a huge Dragon seal (Jeremy was born in 1988, a year of dragon in Chinese calendar). Lee wished Jeremy to become an MVP.
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1780083365
The size of the dragon seal looks like one that Chinese emperor used, that you can see in the Palace Museum in Taipei or in Forbidden City in Beijing. (Chinese call those emperors ” son of heaven” and dragon is a creature from the heaven therefore only the emperor can use the totem of dragon.)
Taiwanese call Jeremy “the sone of Taiwan”, now he is regarded as “the son of heaven” by Lee in China. Advanced!
thanks for all this info ic. wow…what an honor for Jeremy to receive such a gift!

That’s Brad Garrett [no f]
I have trouble too.
The links can only be viewed by Baidu users (Baidu is a chinese website/ forum that sorta thing)… I guess mlin is a baidu user then?
I can’t view as well, the baby tiger is definitely cute, but Jeremy is cuter! LOL

K,
these ok?
mlin,
Maybe the best of all the pictures you’ve sent. great kids. Look at his face when he’s looking at kids…K, he may need more than 10.
Ken, right. I think he needs more than 10. I can offer help! LOL
J,
I want to see you and K walk down the street with 3 or 4 teenage boys all over 6 feet tall…………I have to think about that for a minute…:=)
omg…I just thought about it too….and the thought literally made me LOL!!! And as me and J are in our late 20s and early 30s…I don’t know how appropriate it would be for us to be with teenagers haha!
these show up great!!!
mlin you have great efficiency! Jeremy looks just like a philanthropist in the pics!
ic,
haha mlin & ‘efficiency’ only occurs in the same sentence when it’s about all things JL.
But yeah, WHAT A GREAT GUY!
Very very efficient, mlin!!
Thank you thank you!
Jeremy’s confirmed Hong Kong schedule:
On Aug 24 Jeremy will be invited to K11 sharing his NBA experience with people who love basketball. Jeremy will love K11 where is the center of culture and art, as well as shopping an dining.
On Aug 26 Jeremy will join an evangelical rally in AsiaWorld Expo Arena in Hong Kong Internaitonal Airport. All 10,000+ tickets have been distributed, and 12 churches will give live broadcast of that rally.
After that, he will fly back to Taipei. His 4-day Summer camp will be taken place in Taipei county but not Taipei city. To let you know more, Taipei metropolitan includes Taipei county and Taipei city, and the area of Taipei city is surrounded by Taipei county. Taipei county was given a new name not long ago as New Taipei City.
When in Shanghai, Jeremy is said to attend the 3rd season opening of its popular show of Shanghai Dragon TV.
YAY!!! From 24 – 26 Aug!! I am so excited!!! It’s actually reported in our newspaper today too.
Actually I don’t like K11, it’s not in a great neighborhood. Better be in Times Square in Causeway Bay or Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui. But it’s New World group that is organizing this event and K11 is their property, so well I can’t complain because they invited Jeremy!!!
I am hoping I can see Jeremy in person!! Turtlek, you are the only person that has seen him, like the real Jeremy Lin!! I am so jealous!! LOL
ic, thanks for all the information, we have really resourceful JLin fans out there!
J,
Could be worse. Could be ‘Container Port’…
So J you don’t like K11? I was there a few times, isn’t it in Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙嘴) too? I like Harbor City as well.
Since you live in Hong Kong, we need your report on Jeremy’s Hong Kong activities. My 2 friends there are only interested in football, I don’t expect to get any information from them.
J…is K11 in the area of HK I was at, when I visited? and yes, J you have to be our insider when Jeremy lands in HK!! ic has passed the torch on to you.
Yes ic, K11 is in 尖沙嘴 too. It’s one of the newest malls, but the neighborhood is actually not nice… dirty places around the corner (used to have lots of night clubs etc). The mall itself is very nice, and the Hyatt hotel on the top floors is really cool. The tallest building in the first pic:
http://hongkong.tsimshatsui.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels-hongkong-tsimshatsui/index.jsp?null
May be he will stay there?? WOW!
And K, K11 is in the Kowloon side, not on the HK island, so I guess you didn’t go there last year.
Ladies, I will try my best to see what I can get then! Hopefully my work won’t drag me, I have already got my annual leave approved for 24 Aug! hahaha
J…that place does look nice! Wish I could stay there with him LOL! And soo glad you got approved for the day off. Now u can stalk the whole day
